Politics: Segregation's Legacy: Whites Only Proms

A town in Georgia is again having a whites-only prom, despite the success of the first integrated prom last year. This sickens me. I can't believe this still happens. The strongest response I get from this is when I read about the lady who attended one of the first black proms after the high school was forced to integrate. This week, she will send her son to an integrated prom, but the white kids are having their own whites-only prom elsewhere, so her son's prom will essentially be for blacks only. Thinking about that woman, I would never, ever, have stayed in the same racist hell long enough to raise a child and force him to go through it all over again.

This school district is unbelievable, trapped in the deep, wretched past. They have black and white class presidents. Goddamn.
